This course allows you to work on a variety of different creative projects such as short films, documentaries, TV Studio broadcasts, live briefs with local businesses and more!

You will learn to plan and pitch a film ahead of developing skills in scriptwriting, storyboarding, shooting and editing your own short films with our professional kit. You will have opportunities to explore different skills and techniques, combining theory and practical skills. By the end of this course, you will be confident, creative moving image producers with a practical understanding of the industry and the careers that exist within it.  

The course also provides a wide range of assignments beyond just creative storytelling – such as advertising, documentary and fine art film making. Students have had their work shortlisted for a range of film festivals including TVIFF,  Women X, Northern Festival of Cinema and more! 

Students work has also been selected numerous times to be screened at ‘In The Frame’ – a local film collective that celebrate filmmakers. 

Group work is essential, so you will quickly make new friends while learning the creative and technical skills necessary for industry. Projects are designed to give you an insight into varying careers within the film, TV and online broadcast industries. These include camera operators, editors, directors, producers, content creators and more.  

You will benefit from a range of industry links that provide ‘live projects’ and work experience. Within projects, students have worked with local businesses and charities to create and develop skills in promotional filmmaking. Clients have included Level X, Roxy Movies, Baker Street Kitchen, Rounton Coffee Roasters, Wellington ABC and many more. 

Students also enjoy a range of talks from industry speakers, including Jonny Grant (Film writer), Wander Films, BFI Film Academy, Bob Fischer (BBC), TVIFF (Tees Valley International Film Festival) and lots more.
