Since graduating from BA (Hons) Production Design for Stage and Screen at The Northern School of Art in 2018, Hannah Postlethwaite has built a career as a set designer specialising in opera, working on productions across the UK and internationally.

Hannah designed her first opera, La Bohème, as her final project during her third year at The Northern School of Art. Her early career included work as an associate designer, including on the West End immersive production Peaky Blinders: The Rise and Falstaff for Scottish Opera and the Edinburgh International Festival.

She has since gone on to design major opera productions internationally, including Katya Kabanova at Grange Park Opera and Maria Stuarda at Teatro Real in Madrid, both in 2024. She has also been credited alongside director Sir David McVicar as set designer on Wagner’s Ring Cycle at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, staged across 2024 to 2026.

Her international portfolio continues to grow, with a production of Wagner’s Tannhäuser for Opera Australia scheduled to open in autumn 2027.
