Since graduating from The Northern School of Art’s BA (Hons) Acting for Stage & Screen course, Ruby Allen has built professional experience across film, television and theatre, with work ranging from national advertising campaigns and feature films to international screen projects and touring theatre.
Ruby has appeared in a national Northern Ireland public transport advertising campaign, gaining experience of working on a professional commercial production. Her screen work has also included the feature film I See Him, made alongside fellow Northern School of Art alumni, as well as the international fantasy project The Sleeper: Morrowind, based on the popular The Elder Scrolls game series. The production took Ruby to Hong Kong to film, providing experience of working internationally and within a larger-scale screen production.
Alongside her screen work, Ruby has developed her theatre experience through productions with Theatre Space. Her stage credits include The Taming of the Shrew, performed at Durham Fringe and other venues, as well as Little Red Riding Hood, a Christmas production featuring original music that toured venues across the North East.
Working across different forms of performance has allowed Ruby to develop a versatile approach to acting, moving between screen, commercial work and live theatre. Her experience includes working with established production teams as well as collaborating with fellow graduates and independent theatre-makers.
Ruby’s career demonstrates the range of opportunities available to Acting for Stage & Screen graduates, with her work spanning local and national productions alongside international projects. From appearing in a major advertising campaign to filming overseas and performing in touring theatre, she has built a varied portfolio as a professional actor.
Her experience reflects the importance of developing skills across different areas of performance and being open to a range of opportunities within the industry. Ruby continues to build her professional career across screen and stage, developing her experience through diverse acting projects and collaborations.
