Since graduating from The Northern School of Art’s BA (Hons) Production Design for Stage & Screen course, Caitlin Mills has developed a career in production design across film, television and theatre, working across both independent productions and larger-scale screen projects.
Caitlin has worked across the art department in a range of roles, developing experience in production design, set building, set decoration, prop sourcing and scenic painting. Her screen credits include Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, Bait, Knightfall, Doctor Plague and Zombies of the Third Reich, as well as a range of short films and independent productions.
Her work has involved taking projects from early research and concept development through to practical set construction and dressing on location. She has created technical drawings and scale models, sourced and built props, worked with directors and cinematographers, and managed practical aspects of production design while working within budgets and production schedules.
Caitlin has also worked in theatre, including with Elysium Theatre Company, while continuing to develop her skills across different areas of production design. Her portfolio includes work for stage, film, television and events, giving her a broad understanding of how visual storytelling can be translated from an initial concept into a finished production.
Her work demonstrates the breadth of opportunities within Production Design for Stage & Screen, combining creative design with practical making, problem-solving and collaboration. Caitlin’s progression from assistant and art department roles into production design has allowed her to build a varied career across the screen and performing arts industries.
