Since graduating from The Northern School of Art’s BA (Hons) Fine Art course, Beth Hinde has developed a practice as a representational oil painter, working from her own photography and using projected light to explore how people’s inspirations shape them. She went on to complete an MA in Arts Practice at the School.
In 2024, she was a joint recipient of the New Graduate Award, a three-month studio residency supported by Middlesbrough Art Week and The Auxiliary Project Space. It came with a studio at Navigator North in Middlesbrough, support sessions with New Contemporaries and Starving Artists, and a place in Middlesbrough Art Week 2024. The residency is where she moved from canvas to painting on wood.
Her oil-on-wood painting Anthesis, from the series An Ode to Inspiration, was selected for the extended longlist of the Jackson’s Art Prize 2025, from nearly 13,000 entries across 129 countries.
Beth has curated group exhibitions including Synergy and Fusion, held a solo exhibition, Through the Glass, and exhibited in You Wouldn’t Steal An Art Show at Middlesbrough Art Week 2023. She works as Gallery & Studio Coordinator at The Auxiliary in Middlesbrough, the project space that supported her New Graduate Award residency.
