Chloë Leeson moved to the North East in 2014 to study BA (Hons) Costume Interpretation with Design at The Northern School of Art, graduating in 2017. “I chose to study here because I love the North East,” she has said. She returned to the School for her MA in Art, Culture and Curation and won its inaugural Principal’s MA Dissertation Prize in 2022. She presented her thesis as keynote speaker at the School’s first Scholarly Activity & Research Development Group conference, Towards a Feminist Future.

She completed a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education, with a teaching placement as Trainee Lecturer in Fashion and Textiles at the School from December 2021 to June 2022.

In 2022, she joined Tees Valley Museums as Learning and Engagement Officer, delivering archive-based workshops on Teesside history to schools and community groups. She has since progressed to Senior Learning and Engagement Officer.

She was also Editor-in-Chief of Screen Queens, a film criticism blog run by women and members of the LGBT community, for more than ten years, until 2024.
