Brands to Watch at London Fashion Week
Amanda Wakeley’s Campaign Launch kicked off London Fashion Week last night and from the get-go Fashion Week is usually a whirlwind of shows, parties, paparazzi, live streams and general fashion excitement. At CCAD we are giving you the rundown on the shows you need to be looking out for over the weekend as in the blink of an eye it’s all over for another 6 months.
Friday 15th September
- Shrimps 15:30 – 17:00
Shrimps is a British brand by young designer Hannah Weiland. After launching in 2013, Shrimps’ popularity amongst the high fashion goers, and the general public alike has skyrocketed year to year. With it’s quirky designs and unique emphasis on texture and colour each piece feels like a special occasion.
Saturday 16th September
- Molly Goddard – 12:00
Another young designer who has well and truly hit the big time with her fun and playful engagement with everyday wear. Her signature tulle skirt kicked off the trend that’s still huge today, with each of her collections always making a lasting impression on the consumers. Watch out for this season’s show as that’s exactly what we’ll all be wearing in the next few months.
- Burberry – 19:00
An all time Fashion Week classic. Tune in for a showstopper peppered with ultra famous faces and a ‘hot off the cover’ kind of front row. The consistency of Burberry is what brings the punters back time after time and we’re sure to be in for a spectacular show in a jaw-dropping venue.
Sunday 17th September
- Mary Katrantzou – 9:00
Mary Katrantzou is the queen of ‘OTT’. Her designs are not just clothes, they are deemed by many as actual works of art. Each print is intricate, the cuffs are embellished, the furs are bright and even the simple t-shirt is taken in true Mary Katrantzou style. Make sure you don’t miss her show on Sunday as her next collection is to be just as dreamy and quirky as the rest.
- Topshop – 16:15
Now that Topshop has elevated to true Fashion Week status, it never fails to draw in an A-list crowd. The designers truly embody everyday girl-next-door vibes with a fresh, next level edge on each piece. Don’t miss Topshop (or if you don’t don’t worry as it will be all over the media!)
Monday 18th September
- Erdem – 11:00
Established in 2015, Erdem is widely recognised for its classic femininity. It’s fit and flare dresses, nipped in waists, botanical rococo prints and detailed craftsmanship has easily made Erdem one to keep an eye on this fashion week. The collections are sold in over 170 of the most exclusive retailers, including Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Lane Crawford, Colette, Dover Street Market, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.
- Ashish – 19:00
Delhi born, Ashish Gupta first showed at London Fashion Week in 2005 and since and always kept heads turning with his quirky, streetwear designs and unconventional shows; last year he sent his models down the runway on skateboards and another he painted Lucha Libre wrestling-style masks on their faces. This show will definitely be turning heads once again!
