CCAD Textile graduate selected for Texprint 2017
Once again CCAD Textiles department highlighted their status as one of the main providers of textile graduate talent by having a 2017 graduate selected to exhibit at the prestigious Texprint event.
Graduate Nikki Rowe, was one of only 24 students nationally to be selected to exhibit at Texprint – the most coveted graduate showcase in the textile graduate calendar.
Each year, shortly after Easter, Texprint invites tutors of all BA and MA textile design courses across the UK to nominate their most creative final year students who will graduate that summer. In June each year over 200 textile graduates are invited to interview in one-to-one sessions with their portfolios – the turn around is so fast that graduates are then exhibiting with Texprint in the first week of July.
Nikki is now one of 24 designers who are mentored and showcased at several industry events:
Texprint London is Texprint’s preview presentation, held in July in London exclusively for Texprint supporters, press, college tutors and industry VIPs – it is a great opportunity for Texprint sponsors to enjoy their first view of the designers’ outstanding work. They also invite leading figures in the industry to judge the Texprint Awards for Fashion, Interiors, Colour and Pattern. Nikki has been successfully chosen as one of six students to win the AVA Texprint Training Award, which is awarded by sponsor, AVA CAD/CAM. Nikki’s prize is a 5 day course, giving her the opportunity to learn about the key functions of AVA CAD/CAM’s software and relevant industry processes.
The main Texprint showcase of work is held in September at Première Vision Designs, Paris, the international textile design speciality show, and part of Première Vision Pluriel, which groups together Europe’s most important fashion fabrics, yarn, textile design and accessories fairs. Nikki will have her own professional stand within the Texprint ‘village’ – this is a unique opportunity to meet international buyers and make invaluable contacts, receive commissions, meet and network with industry and press.
We are so proud of Nikki and we will keep you updated with her work. Here are a selection of images from her Texprint story so far:
