Hollie Galloway has built a career spanning photography, filmmaking and creative direction since graduating with a BA (Hons) Photography from The Northern School of Art, working across fashion, commercial content, documentary and the arts.
She has worked as a freelance photographer and filmmaker for more than 15 years, with experience spanning cinematography, editing, lighting and sound. Her career has included roles as Senior Photographer at END. Clothing and Senior Photographer and Retoucher at Forward Space, alongside freelance work for a range of brands and creative organisations. In 2018 she founded Hun North East, an events and curation platform, running it for three years alongside her freelance practice. She also spent several years at The Northern School of Art as a Photography & Moving Image Lecturer and Studio Manager & Technician, and in 2021 completed a postgraduate degree in Film, Photography & Media.
Her moving-image work includes cinematography and editing on Tish, a feature documentary directed by Paul Sng and financed by the BBC, BFI and Screen Scotland. The film premiered at Sheffield DocFest and was featured in The Guardian’s top 50 films of 2023. She has also worked on documentaries and experimental films including Matthew Finn: A Portrait, That Werewolf Complex and Dwell.
Alongside documentary work, Hollie has created commercial and campaign films for brands and organisations including Host & Stay, Durham Cricket, Michelin-starred restaurant Hjem and fashion brand Endless Joy, with projects featuring personalities such as Jill Scott and Chris Kamara.
