An introduction to the history of art by a speaker from the world leading centre for the study of history of art, conservation and curating, The Courtauld Institute of Art, is featuring as part of The Northern School of Art‘s #CreativeCareers online professional studies session on Wednesday 24 March.

The talk from 2 – 3pm by The Courtauld’s Head of Learning, Helen Higgins, will provide an opportunity to discover how art history can inform and strengthen creative practice and enable the ability to interrogate and respond to contemporary issues.

The session will also look at the skills art history can provide and the wide range of career paths available.

Over the past ten years Helen Higgins has worked as an artist, educator, art historian and curator on many interdisciplinary projects and exhibitions, including those at Tate Modern, The Hayward Gallery, The Guggenheim and The Courtauld.

About The Northern School of Art’s Creative Careers series:

The schedule of talks covers a range of disciplines and they are delivered by industry speakers, creative lecturers and graduates from across the whole creative sector.

These sessions can serve as a useful resource for schools and colleges (or anyone with an interest in creative development and progression). Usually lasting around 45 minutes, they take place on a Wednesday afternoon.
