Royal Milliner, Sally-Ann Provan Visits Costume Students
On Tuesday 5th November Royal milliner from the Edinburgh Hat Studio, award-winning Scottish milliner and hat maker Sally-Ann Provan came to our wonderful school to hold a millinery workshop and guest lecture for our Costume Interpretation with Design students.
Sally-Ann is a renowned milliner and creates bespoke handmade hats, headpieces, & bridal millinery for weddings (the bride, her family & guests), Royal Ascot, Henley Royal Regatta, investitures, Royal garden parties, special occasions, stage & screen.
Her hats have graced the heads several members of the Royal Family, She also creates headwear for opera, ballet, and theatre companies, music artists, television, and film. She is Scottish Opera’s milliner, and other clients include The BBC, Scottish Ballet, The Royal Lyceum Theatre, and also she worked on the Robert de Niro film ‘The Good Shepherd’ and the stage musical ‘The Lion King’.
Sally-Ann worked with our students on a flower making technique which is heavily featured in her millinery designs.
