BA (Hons) Animation graduate Adam Nevin is the recipient of this year’s Animation Achievement Award 2026, awarded annually in recognition of the hard work and achievements of one deserving student.
The judges commented that, “Adam has consistently been a positive presence in our class, with perfect attendance and a consistently optimistic attitude. Adam actively contributes to discussions, supports his peers, and shows a strong enthusiasm for self-motivated learning, developing his practical skills in Toon Boom beyond taught workshops. He is eager to build his professional portfolio and is often pursuing external opportunities. It has been a pleasure to see his skillset develop over the past three years.”

Reacting to winning his award, Adam, 22, from the North East, said, “I was very pleased to hear that I had won the award as I had put a lot of time and energy into the course. I wanted to make sure I tried in every module, and £100 certainly won’t go amiss.”
Adam’s animated Final Major Project focused on a story of two characters facing adversity as they disobey the government’s unfair and prejudiced laws against an innocent minority. It features Juna and her robot companion, Abe, as they experience the beginning of the rest of their lives.
When asked what his advice would be to students starting the animation course in September, he said to be proactive outside of university as well as in class: “Advice that I would give to future students is to experiment with different techniques and software, follow tutorials, and don’t be afraid to search for answers online, as you don’t have to be limited by what is taught in class. The course provides industry-standard software that you can use both in class and at home, allowing students to be productive outside of class.”
