The Northern Foundation Art Prize: What’s Your Discipline?
#TheNorthernArtPrize
The Northern School of Art is on the lookout for the next ‘artist to watch’. If you’re an artist, creator, designer, maker then we want you to share an image on a public Instagram feed of a piece of your work with a short caption, using the hashtag #TheNorthernArtPrize.
This competition is run by Foundation Diploma at The Northern School of Art. Foundation Diploma is an exciting and confidence building, year course (free for under 19s), which helps you discover your arts discipline and equips you with the skills and standard to apply and thrive at degree level.
Students on foundation initially work across all areas: fashion, textiles, graphics , illustration, photography , fine art etc before specialising for the rest of the course on the subject of their choice. Work is characterised by innovative thinking, strong drawing, celebration of experimentation and individualism.
The competition starts on the 14th December and runs until the 13th January 2019. Submissions are open to northern based artists aged 11-18 years old and a wide range of artistic mediums are welcome. Your submitted work must be your own and unique. (Please note, you will not be entered if your work is not your own.)
We want a diversity of work to reflect the individualism of the course: from the weird and wonderful, to the intricate and the beautiful.
What’s your discipline?
The successful shortlist of candidates will be invited to exhibit their work at our Summer show, with the overall winner receiving an extra cash prize of £150.
How to enter: Simply upload a photo of your work to your public Instagram feed, using the hashtag #TheNorthernArtPrize by 13th January 2019.
