UAL Film & TV Production students celebrate the end of their diploma with a private film showcase for industry partners, family and friends!

UAL Extended Diploma Film & TV Production diploma students celebrated the end of their two year course with an annual film screening event on Wednesday 10th June. This is the fourth year the diploma has hosted the event, which see’s students watch all films in full with their VIP guests and invited industry representatives followed by a small award ceremony.
This year welcomed industry partners including Michael Luke from TVIFF, Caris Rianne from Rianne Pictures and Hartlepool based organisation In The Frame. Organiser and Lecturer Katt Mudd said, “it is always such a lovely event and so nice to be able to celebrate all of the students!”
The screening included all of the students projects including; Anemoia by Emily Barnfield, MACGRATH Lou Burton (Governors’ Award Winner), SMISH by Roman Coupland-Berryman and Joe Harrison, The Incredibly Dull Life Of Eric Quinn by Adam England, I Was Here by Ash Ford, Time For A Pint by Max Gray, Whatever Makes You Happy by Thomas Lord-Hatton, Yours Forever and Always by Hannah Neal, Shedding by Elle Seaton, Whatever Makes You Happy by Tal Thompson-McKie and The Right Pick by Josh Vauvert.
Vice President of Hartlepool based film collective In The Frame Alice said, “As a collective passionate about independent filmmaking, In The Frame were delighted to attend this year’s graduate screenings, which showcased a wide spectrum of talent, skill, and imagination. From compelling stories to inventive concepts, it was inspiring to see so many emerging filmmakers exploring their voices with such creativity and commitment. We’re excited to see where their creative journeys take them next.”
“Each year I am blown away by the talent of the NSOA students, the diversity in storytelling, style and passion is incredible”said Caris Rianne, from Rianne Picures. “It’s an incredible asset to the North East film community. I am proud to be championing them and the future of our local talent!”
During the evening staff also give out student awards, this years winners included, Best Audio (The Andrew Dunning Award) won by Emily Barnfield for Anemoia, Best Script received by Ash Ford for I Was Here, Best Performance by an Ensemble won by Max Gray for his work Time For a Pint, Best Cinematography, Best Edit and Best Film (Audience Award) won by Lou Burton for MACGRATH and Student of the Year 2026 which was presented to Adam England.
Reflecting on the night student Adam England commented, “It was an experience I won’t forget anytime soon, watching the films of my classmates and with my family was a lot of fun.”
