Our partnership with Aardman Academy is already benefitting staff and students, with two workshop days already completed. Lecturers Joseph Keen and Graham Purvis took part in a 2-day lecturer development programme focusing on the importance of developing a dialogue between industry, education, knowledge share & community building. As well as a workshop and talk day from professionals at Aardman Academy for students across multiple courses.

Speaking of his experience, Joe said ‘My time at Aardman was very inspiring and exciting. I learned techniques and knowledge in animation from some of the best in the industry and look forward to transferring what we learned to our students.’

Animation lecturer Graham Purvis commented “It was a highly enjoyable and informative two days, in which we got to meet highly talented artists in a variety of fields and fellow educational specialists. Topics covered included technical information used by an industry leader in their field, i.e. lighting, armature’s, etc… and showing us ways to get students to think outside the box, in fields such as idea generation and lighting to name but two.”

This partnership with Aardman enriches our students experience too by opening up knowledge, skills and opportunities. This month students across our Illustration, Animation, Graphics, VFX and Production design courses also visited Aardman for a series of talks and workshops providing students with different methods to use moving forward in to their current modules!
