COURSE DETAILS
This two-year T Level in Craft and Design is a technical qualification designed with
employers to prepare you for work in the creative industries. With a specialist focus on Textiles and Fashion, you’ll blend hands-on making with design theory and core industry knowledge.
You’ll explore advanced skills in surface pattern, fabric manipulation, digital design, and garment construction - working on real-world briefs and developing a portfolio that reflects your design thinking and technical ability.
Unlike traditional classroom-based courses, T Levels include a substantial industry placement - around 45 days working with a relevant employer. This gives you invaluable insight into the world of creative business and helps you build the confidence and connections to thrive after college.
You’ll be taught by expert tutors and technicians in a specialist art school environment, supported every step of the way as you gain the practical skills, workplace readiness and qualifications to move directly into a job, apprenticeship or university course.

T-Levels follow the study of GCSE’s and Technical Awards and offer an alternative to A-Levels and Apprenticeships. T-Levels combine classroom theory, practical learning and a minimum 315 hours of industry placement with an employer. The work placement ensures students have real experience of the workplace. T-Level programmes are developed in collaboration with employers so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work. T-Levels provide the knowledge and experience needed to progress to highly skilled employment, an Apprenticeship or higher-level study, including university.
Your T-Level will be worth up to 168 UCAS points (a T-Level Distinction* is worth the same as 3 A-Levels at A*) and will be recognised by universities and other education providers so you can choose to continue studying if you wish. The Department for Education have published a list of higher education providers who will consider T-Levels for entry onto at least one course. When you pass your T-Level, you will get a nationally recognised certificate showing the overall grade you achieved - pass, merit, distinction or distinction*. It will also give details of what you learned on the course to help you move into skilled employment or a higher apprenticeship.
You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for. Your industry placement gives you the chance to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies. When and how you complete it depends on the T-Level, school or college, and employer. Like A-Levels, there are no tuition fees to study a T-Level. This course is dependent on application levels and employer liaison and may not go ahead if criteria is not met.
