The above clubs are excellent for those already studying art and also those who are unable to study art due to their school curriculum but would like the opportunity to explore their creativity as well as those who just love art and want to explore new techniques and ideas. The Saturday Art Clubs are a unique opportunity for young people to develop new skills and experiences within art and design. The aim is to nurture young talent, build confidence, develop creative skills and independence through a range of art and design activities, such as painting, drawing, collage, design, digital and 3D such a ceramics, textiles and model making. Students will also learn about different artists and cultures and how their work can inspire their own art work and ideas. Saturday Club students get to experience working in a college environment which encourages long term progression skills and also the opportunity to explore their creativity and potential in a supportive, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Students come from lots of different schools and areas so there is opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. Our overall aim is for all students to develop new skills and confidence in an enjoyable, safe and inclusive learning environment. The course is delivered by experienced and specialist tutors from the Northern School of Art. Each session is three hours starting at 10.00am and finishing at 1.00pm with a mid-morning break. Parents are not required to stay for the duration of the class. We ask that students bring with them refreshments for break time and wear old clothes that they don’t mind getting messy.
