Alice ClarkHenry 8th and Anne Boleyn for display in a Museum
Throughout my years of study I have focused on historical costume as that is my area of interest. After writing my dissertation about Tudor women and their place in society, I had to make a costume for my favourite lady of all; Anne Boleyn. Alongside the king. Their costumes have been made from historically accurate materials and all embellishments have been done by hand. such as, embroidery and a lot of gold hand painting on Henry's ensemble. Each of them is wearing the full 4 layers of garments that would historically complete their outfit and silhouette such as a farthingale.

Danielle DinsdaleCostumes based on the character Sabrina the Teenage Witch
My final major costumes are inspired by the show Sabrina the teenage witch, the costumes are created in the style of the 1950s and have been inspired by the Lolita street styles in japan to create a truly original finished product. The first costume is inspired by the dark baptism scene and has elements of bridal styles as well as silverwork embellishment that portrays the characters enchanted themes. The second costume displays a costume inspired by the school scene that has elements of tailoring, fabric manipulation, millinery and embroidery that has portrayed the witchcraft aesthetic with elements of botany and nature, relating to the history in paganism. This project has allowed me to explore all aspects of costume from the construction of the costumes; such as draping of the bodice, as well as the construction of a layered petticoat skirt, to embellishment such as botanical embroidery and silver work as well as devourer techniques to create a complex and interesting piece of work. My work has allowed me to push my skill set and refine my skills in costume.

Charlotte MacKinnonPretty Woman Wedding Scene
This costume is influenced by the character Vivian Ward from the film Pretty Woman, the dress was made for a modern day sequel of the original film. The design process consisted of a number of design ideas to ensure the correct style was chosen to suit the character. The embellishment is hand designed and created to give a unique and couture style. The wedding dress consists of a boned, corset style bodice to show the figure of the wearer and also again show the previous life of Vivian Ward. I wish to progress into the bridal industry.

Emily DeavilleBespoke Bridal Gown - Naiad
This gown is called “Naiad” and is inspired by the modern mermaid silhouette. As well as being inspired by other 2020 bridal trends, key features of this gown are a boned bodice and a deep backless feature. The fabric was chosen, in collaboration with Bridal Fabrics who have sponsored me for my final year work; for this gown I used ivory heavy crepe, which was also combined with Raschel lace, which was further hand embellished with clear glass seed beads and silk organza. The dress is also made up of lace appliqué which sits on the bottom of the backless feature, and again around the hem of the train.

Hannah Larmour18th century lady, Robe a la Francaise
This costume was created for a film adaptation of 'Pirates' by Celia Rees. The gown is traditional wear of the 18th century. It is made to reflect the extravagant taste of the era and contrast the characters later transition to pirate attire. The costume is complete with historical undergarments appropriate to the era; chemise, stays, panniers and petticoat. The gown is made from a luxurious rose taffeta that suggests the wealth and status of the character, along with the decorative embellishment adorning the garment. Some of the skills include corsetry, historical pattern drafting and hand embroidery.

Heather WilsonThe tale of the Huldra and the Woman
These costumes were created to represent the norwegian folktale of the Huldra. The huldra is a fantasy creature of great beauty and her costume uses hand moulded silk flowers, leather leaves and worbla vines. The woman has taken influence from the traditional dress of Norway, the bunad, using hand embroidery, cartridge pleats and traditional construction techniques. In my work I love both historical costumes and fantasy having created pieces ranging from Robin hood to bioshock, a 1930s underwater dystopia. I am skilled at hand sewing and traditional construction techniques as well as modern, unusual techniques such as thermoplastic, shellac as well as ageing and distressing.

Ilona HaldemannPomp & Circumstance
These costumes are for Duchess Elouise Fowey and Bunny Coville from Noël Coward’s only Novel: Pomp & Circumstance. This fictitious adaption takes place in the mid 1950s on a Scottish Isle, for a black tie event. I show Elouise’s hyperfemininity and elegance with the softness of tulle, wasp waist and classic 50s colourway. I achieved the look by making a corset, petticoat, bodice, and tulle skirt. Bunny’s costume consists of a traditionally tailored dinner jacket and tartan trews. His charm shown through a shawl lapel, his naughtiness hinted at using the Campbell tartan, following the saying “never trust a Campbell”.

Lucy SavageGeneral Hua Mulan: Live Action Costume
Lucy wishes to specialise in millinery (hat-making) after university and geared her final year projects to have millinery themes. During the summer of second year, she gained work-experience with London Milliner Sahar Freemantle. Lucy's FMP project was for a TV series based on cultural and historical portrayals of Mulan. Through research of historical, cultural and contemporary clothing, textiles and symbolism; a costume suited to the character was designed for and produced. Characterisation and symbolism can be seen through the many instances in the final costume such as the 1,200 scales hand-sewn to the costume, Worbla horns, dragon-scale smocking, and embellished motifs.

Ursula ToonThe Nightmare Before Christmas
For my final major project, I created costumes for Jack and Sally from ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ for a live action film. I decided to have a fantasy Edwardian setting, so the majority of the cast would wear Edwardian costume. Jack is inspired by the early 20th century - as he is forward thinking. Sally is inspired by Victorian fashions, as she would have to use the other townspeople’s old clothes. During this project I have challenged and broadened my skillset. Corsetry, tailoring, knitting, foiling, fabric manipulation, and ageing and distressing are examples of the specialist skills in this project.

Natasha LopezTraditional Spanish Costume
These two costumes have been inspired for the production Strictly Ballroom. As Natasha has a love for culture, she has used a traditional Spanish influence to inspire these two costumes. The women’s red dress has been inspired by gypsy flamenco costume using large frills to adorn and create the shape of the dress. As it is a dance dress, stretch fabric has been used to create the full dress to allow more ease and movement when dancing. The men’s costume has been inspired by what the Spanish Matador would wear. This suit known as the ‘Traje de Luces’ is full of embellishments with military inspirations. For Natasha's version she has included a plain white shirt, trousers reaching below the knee and an embellished jacket. This costume has helped Natasha refine her pattern cutting and modern construction elements such as using stretch fabric. However, the key skill developed is hand embroidery mainly focussing on goldwork.
