Abbie Elise TownsonFake Colour
I’m Abbie, I’m a surface designer with a passion for COLOUR. I focused my work towards the interior market and would love to set up my own business in the future. My concept for my FMP was Fake Colour in Nature and I portrayed this through the use of digital processes and strong colour.

Aimee BurnsAdvertising Women
Researching how women are portrayed in the media over the past 100 years I have produced a collection of linear and non-representational designs visually displaying my concept relating to the changes to advertisements. With this research I question whether brands use feminist ideas in their branding to legitimately show their support or whether they're used as a method of encouraging consumerism. Specialising in print, I have explored a variety of techniques as well as stereo-typically feminine imagery and colours throughout my ‘Advertising Women’ project. All of which demonstrates how women are consistently, and inaccurately, portrayed within the media.

Aliya JeffersonEmbellished Escapism
My final collection is based on the coastline, focusing on the textural elements that the beach has to offer. I find texture soothing and wanted to capture this through embellishment. Colour is a passion of mine so working with a bright and colourful palette, was only fitting for my final collection.I used sustainable sequins and glass beads in this project, the textiles industry has a massive impact on the environment, so I wanted to do my part. I would like to thank my generous sponsors: BOYES, Sustainable Sequin Co. & Brenton and Johnson

This piece is from my Acid Nightmare collection created for my FMP concept, Horror on Acid. Aimed at the alternative market, this collection explores bright colours, and trippy, horror themed imagery, designed primarily for party, rave and festival wear. I wanted to bring the bright, the crazy, and the fun, to the dark, the creepy and the mysterious, creating surface designs suited to make the wearer stand out at any occasion, from metal festivals to summer raves.

Clair DowgillJuxtaposition - The Natural History Scarf Collection
All my research which informs my imagery in my final work has some special resonance to me, this ranges from the incredible fossils in the Natural History museum which hold me in awe at their age and beauty, to the transient plants I have grown from seed in my own garden. The idea of disparate juxtapositions is something I find intriguing and allows me to reflect and sometimes – but not always, connect different parts of my story together, causing me to think more and also to provoke on lookers to think more and if possible out of the box.

Danielle TaylorRoaring Twenties
My final major project was based on the 1920s and the luxurious lifestyle, a big influence towards the design work was the development of women’s rights during the 20s. Through my time in education I have developed a high level of digital design knowledge therefore for my final major project this was my area of specialism. I like to work with geometric shapes along with photography and drawing motifs. I work well from a brief but can also create my own concept and manage my own development.

Isobel CurtisHomegrown
I am a surface designer from the north east. I always begin a project with hand drawings and then develop these into designs using both digital and hand rendered medias and methods. My work often uses a lot of bright and contrasting colours which bounce off each other making a unique and bold final design. My FMP was focused on the concept of homegrown and using the colours you find in nature but then increasing the brightness of them to create a variety of placement and repeat designs.

Jasmine YahkupThe Endangered & The Exotic
For my Final Major Project I explored the concept of ‘The Endangered and Exotic’ intending to shed light on the beauty of flora and fauna deemed as rare, near extinction or of a tropical nature through eye-catching surface pattern designs. I wanted to bring awareness to the beauty of these animals and plants which we often take for granted. I take a lot of my inspiration from my cultural identity and passion for nature; influenced by my experiences of growing up in South East Asia.

Jess HallCollection of Cushions Azure
With a passion for nature and botanicals and the fascinating details of flowers I have created a collection of cushions design led by the high street consumer market. They have all been inspired by commercial companies to reach a vast audience. These include companies such as Sainsburys and Next.

Judy RichardsonRich Ecosystems
With a world overrun by technology, I like to create work that reminds us of the beauty and value of the natural world, and the importance of preserving natural habitats. My specialism is traditional hand-rendered techniques, such as embroidery, screen-print, and hand painting. This collection celebrates the preciousness and abundance of natural wildlife, and ways that different species are interconnected, and share the same environment. This includes humans and the effects that consumerism has on the natural world. 'Rich Ecosystems' relates to a richness of colour and nature, and is a play-on-words regarding humanity’s obsession with purchasing consumer goods.

Lois ExleyNature vs Man Made
I am Interested in the natural elements whilst also being intrigued by what is man made, I chose to create a project in which I could bring together my interests as a collective, presented as one. My collection revolves around the idea that when the man made and natural elements collide, they are able to successfully intertwine and thrive in harmony creating something truly beautiful.

Ruth O’ReillyColour in Nature
Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, my concept is focused on the gorgeously bright colours that can be found in natural things. I have focused on tropical plants, flowers and fruit to sustain a focus on The Jungle Book’s key imagery which was my initial inspiration. My project emphasises the colours around us, to a somewhat unrealistic level, to depict the unrealistic standards we have found ourselves surrounded by in this time. Drawings have been distorted to represent the unnatural expectations we aspire to as portrayed in the media throughout all aspects of life.

Brittany Cushley-SmithHyper Expressive Tropics
I am a Surface Designer who can design for a wide variety of markets. I take a mixed media approach to my work, as I love to explore the different surfaces and textures I can create using various medias. I am currently looking for a job in a Fashion or Gift design studio as working as a designer for a known company is my dream career. My Hyper expressive tropical collection is based on exploring the contrast of harsh lines in architecture with the biomorphic forms found within and around plants throughout the world, as I find shapes within objects inspiring. Please see my Instagram to view more of my work!
