Technician – BA (Hons) Fashion

Qualifications:

BA (Hons) Body Contour Fashion, First Class Honours (Northern School of Art)

Alongside running a successful freelance garment development and manufacturing business, Alex is the technician for the BA (Hons) Fashion course. She has worked within the industry for 8 years, helping to strengthen and grow her clients’ labels remotely from her own studio space.

Her knowledge of pattern-cutting, sampling and grading has allowed her to bring her client’s designs to life, from sketches to real-world garments, whilst her sewing and assembly skills are applied to her production runs, ensuring ethically made, beautifully finished garments are regularly supplied to each of the brands she works with.

Her clients regularly collaborate with stylists across the globe, and many of the pieces she works on are often worn by artists, performers and celebrities, both on stage and on screen, including Bella Hadid, Florence Pugh, Megan Thee Stallion and FKA Twigs.

Alex is on hand to share her knowledge of industry-standard practise with students, ensuring they each have the understanding required to create beautiful pieces, strengthening both their portfolios and their confidence in their garment realisation and refinement skills.

– Ever-growing client base includes notable up-and-coming names such as Rhi Dancey, Ella Mia, Tit4tats and Gluc Gator.

– Has developed designs and created garments that have been worn by many influential figures and celebrities, with many of her pieces featuring in viral social media posts.

– Maintains her own industry connections and portfolio, ensuring her knowledge and skills are constantly updated and are relevant to current practise
