As a lecturer of photography at degree level, and Post Graduate level (both at NSoA and External institutions), Jamie Macdonald also creates films that inform, educate and inspire others. Drawing from an extensive career as a practitioner and educator, his specialist area of research is British, European and American documentary photography. He has collaborated on a number of commissioned and self-funded projects. Partners include: Arts Council; MIMA; Teesside University; Institute of Digital Innovation; National Glass Centre; MPF; The Photographers Gallery; The Guardian, Observer and Sunday Times. Areas of current Research associated with curriculum development include technological advancements in Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and its relationship with documentary photography and photojournalism.
