COURSE DETAILS

If you are passionate about performance and want to train in a professional, creative space - this course is for you. The Level 3 Acting course at The Northern School of Art offers dynamic, hands-on training in acting for both theatre and screen, helping you become a confident, expressive performer ready for higher education or the industry. Across two years, you’ll explore acting techniques, voice, movement, improvisation, character development and script work. You’ll work on live performances, devised theatre, short films and voice work - building a varied portfolio of experience and a strong understanding of the industry. Collaborating with other students across film, costume, design and production means you’ll also take part in exciting cross-disciplinary projects that mirror how the real creative sector works. You will be taught by experienced industry professionals who know what it takes to succeed and who will support you from first reads to final performances. What do you enjoy most about your course?
I've been able to really spend time adapting important and foundational skills and techniques from my peers. I've really enjoy the creative freedom we have to explore new practioners + ideas at our own pace, and apply it to our unique style.

What’s your favourite thing about The Northern School of Art?
I love the collaboration. The school is really like one big community of people that share a passion for creativity. I love the eagerness from our tutors to get involved in collaborative projects in and out of the classroom. The Northern School of Art provides a unique freedom for artist to create work with each other. We are treat as a community of artists not just as students

What's surprised you about your time here?
The utility of Industry connections. I have been lucky enough to develop some really strong connections with filmmakers for example both at the college and at the university allowing me to land some exciting roles in professional quality films + short films. I've also been able to audition for and land professional acting jobs and agency representation offers through the knowledge and industry connections of my tutors.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about studying here?
Go for it! If you have a love for a creative subject that the college offers - this is the best place to journey in it and take your work to the next level with tutors who really know that they are talking about and will do everything to get you into professional acting work.
