COURSE DETAILS
Working in dedicated specialist studios and workshops equipped with an extensive range of industry standard equipment, you will explore a fascinating range of materials and making processes, including laser cutting and 3D printing as well as more traditional techniques. You will learn how to create, develop and enhance your designs using traditional techniques and digital design tools like Photoshop and 3D StudioMax. Working with new technologies and 3D software will challenge those interested in elements of STEM subjects used in design. Typically, the course offers many opportunities for excellent industrial links and ‘live projects’ set by architects and designers who will help develop your ideas professionally. You may also benefit from a range of educational visits to gather first hand research and experience design in its many forms. In the past there have been trips to Northern Design Festival, Harry Potter World and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park amongst others. STUDENT PROFILE

ELODIE SAHA What do you enjoy most about your course? At first I started doing A-Levels at another college and it just wasn’t for me, so I transferred here. I love that it’s coursework based than exam orientated; it’s really helped me develop my skills in 3D. What’s your favourite thing about The Northern School of Art? The staff are great, so helpful and knowledgeable. I love the whole atmosphere of the college too. What are your next steps? I’m looking to go to university to carry on my studies in 3D design and architecture. What's surprised you about your time here? I didn’t realised how hands on it would be and how much I would learn about the subject!
