The seasons roll around so quick and we just can’t keep up. One minute we’re purchasing swimsuits for summer, next thing you know September is approaching and we’re looking at renewing the trusty coat for the next few months. As Fashion Week was back in February, we wanted to jog your memory on the trends we were presented for A/W 2017.

All That Glitters

Over the past year, the general fashion public have taken on undone, slouchy streetwear, partly from celebrities such as Kylie Jenner who loves a sweat pant, but also with movements in attitudes to down dressing. However, previous months has proven how ‘extra’ we are slowly becoming and with a recent revival of dressing-up, the designers on the catwalks have certainly embraced this. From Saint Laurent to Paco Rabanne, there was no lack of sequin and glitz on many of the catwalks from Fashion Week.

Suited and Booted

The tailoring trend is set to be huge in September, double breasted jackets, pronounced shoulders, pressed trousers and lapels will be all over the high street. Seen famously in the Calvin Klein show and the Celine catwalk, this trend can go from day to night, swapping your Nikes for a statement heel. As the weather cools down, layering up with jumpers and socks won’t ruin the look, only elevate it further. Score.

Down with the Blues

Powder blue is the ‘it’ colour for the season according to Vogue. Think nineteen-forties Lauren Bacall. We’ll be swapping our popping pink and summer blood orange for this cool blue in the forms of soft shirts and trench coats (see Celines trench), and beautiful knitwear too. Celine have nailed it but also Miu Miu’s knitwear is a must have. Let’s just hope the high street catches up so we can get the dupe!

That Seventies Show: on repeat

Once again the 70s is big in the fashion books, year after year, I don’t think this one’s going anywhere fast! Last year it was burgundy tones and suede, this time its shapes and accents. Ruffles, pussy bow blouses, patent leather and nipped in waists. Gucci has gone garish with this one whereas Max Mara has kept it classy in camel. The key is to mix up your current wardrobe with bits of this trend as to not go too over board; a kick flare pair of jeans, a ruffle cuffed jumper with a pair of calf-length boots is a great relaxed combo with a nod to the 70s.
