CCAD ILLUSTRATION GRADUATE ALAN HITS NATIONAL DIGITAL BILLBOARDS
Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD) graduate, Alan Vest, from Stockton-on-Tees is one of just 10 graduates to be chosen as a ‘rising star’ and to have their work showcased to millions of people as part of a national initiative by Creative Review and JC Decaux to appear on over 1,000 of JC Decaux’s digital screens at stations, roadsides and shopping centres all over the UK
Creative Review are passionate about supporting emerging talent, and are delighted to be able to do so again with their second year of Talentspotting initiative in conjunction with JC Decaux. They went to art and design degree shows across the country to help select the work of graduate image makers, which would appear on the digital screens.
The screens will be found alongside roads and the biggest stations in the country including London’s Euston, King’s Cross, Liverpool Street, London Bridge, St. Pancras, Victoria and Waterloo as well as at Brighton, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and York.
They are also placed at major shopping destinations like Bluewater, intu Lakeside, Bullring (Birmingham), St David’s (Cardiff), Liverpool One, Trinity Leeds, and Brent Cross (London). In addition to being shown nationwide across screens, Alan’s work can be seen locally in Newcastle station and in Eldon Square Mall and intu Metro Centre Gateshead.
Alan, who studied BA (Hons) Illustration for Commercial Application at CCAD, will see his work displayed on digital screens and in Creative Review magazine as part of the Talent Spotting initiative run by Creative Review with outdoor advertising company JC Decaux. This highlights up-and- coming art and design talent from universities and colleges across the country.
Alan says “I studied Illustration for Commercial Application, it was a brand new course and I was one of the first year graduating. I feel so lucky to have my work selected, what an amazing opportunity and I’m so grateful to be involved. I like to use different pens to make marks and lines on paper, I may then incorporate a range of other materials and try to keep the image as raw as possible.”
Russell Gower, Creative Content Director at JC Decaux said, “This is the second year that we have worked with Creative Review to bring the work of new design talent to an audience of millions, celebrating the next generation of artists across our digital channel.
We are delighted to bring this inspiring work for the public to enjoy when they are out and about.”
Patrick Burgoyne, Editor of Creative Review, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to run Talent Spotting with JC Decaux again this year. Last year’s project was one of the most exciting we have done. Giving recent graduates such huge nationwide exposure was a real thrill – for both them and us! It was wonderful to see the reaction to the work up and down the country. I’m sure this year will be even better!”
