Lucy Exhibits Exceptional Talent at London Show
A talented student from Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD) has had a successful summer after exhibiting two pieces of illustrative art at a London show alongside 33 female artists from all over the world.
19-year old Lucy Snowdon from Hartlepool, who has just completed her first year of study on the BA (Hons) Illustration for Commercial Application, was invited by London-based online gallery, Skull & Heart, to exhibit two illustrations created especially for the ’Hear Me Roar’ exhibition at theprintspace in Shoreditch.
For the commissioned artworks, Lucy was inspired by her love of animal art and fantasy-based designs, and created a series of exotic dart frogs dressed in tribal wear in black and white. Her second, more colourful piece called Flight featured two Wyvern Dragons in flight as she is a big fan of fantasy-based art.
The illustration exhibition, which showcased screen prints from international female artists, included a VIP opening night and was open to visitors during the whole of July. Limited edition prints from the top talented creatives in the industry, including Lucy, are now available to purchase exclusively online and can be found by clicking here
Lucy was delighted to be involved with such a prestigious event, saying: “I was over the moon to be asked to take part in this exhibition for up and coming female artists. The invitation came about through CCAD and a guest lecture by leading illustrators Drew
Millward and Dan Mumford. After they viewed my work, I was introduced to some artists who work for Skull & Heart and the gallery asked me to create my own designs for the show.
“It was fantastic to take part and see my works featured alongside other artists. Hear Me Roar was such a success that they even extended the exhibition for another week.”
With another two years of study, Lucy is concentrating on her coursework but considering a career in book illustration in the future.
