CCAD Supporting International Women’s Day
Yesterday the women of the world came together in celebration of International Women’s Day. Whether you attended a conference, supported on social media or wore your ‘Girl Power’ t-shirt, the day was a powerful day for womankind. We wanted to bring you a rundown of the perfect pieces you can purchase (or oggle) right now. The companies and brands we’ve featured are not only backed by a feminist attitude, but they also stock some of the coolest pieces.
Elizabeth Ilsley, Jacket £500
You know that age old “if you were stranded on a desert island, what would you bring?”, THIS! Okay, okay, it’s not totally ‘desert island’ appropriate, but we are all over this brand, as are the likes of Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Kanye, Florence and the Machine and not to mention the 26k followers on Instagram. Started by a 19 year old student from the West Midlands, with a painted £10 charity shop leather jacket posted on Instagram, Elizabeth, now 21 has her own empire of a brand, exclusively stocked in Liberty. “Towards the end of my university course, Liberty London got in touch and wanted to stock my leather jackets in the shop,” she told the Daily Mail. Elizabeth made 24 jackets for the store, which all sold out within six days. She said: “I’m currently painting a jacket for Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine. Her manager got in touch and stated that Florence loved the jackets and wanted one of her own. I’ve also done four jackets for Kayne West. He got in touch asking for three for his daughter, North West and one for his wife, Kim Kardashian. He shipped over his own jackets and I painted Kayne West lyrics on them at his request.”
