Illustration lecturer wins dream commission with leading make-up brand
Some exciting news for The Northern School of Art Illustration lecturer, Frances Moffat, who has worked on a commission with a high profile make-up brand that has collaborated with Lady Gaga.
Frances, pictured below, who teaches on the School’s BA (Hons) Illustration for Commercial Application degree course at the university-level campus in Hartlepool, produced illustrations for the packaging for London-based Face Lace’s new Autumn/Winter 2019 collection, which was released recently.
Face Lace specialises in ornate, stick-on face appliqués that mimic elaborate, futuristic make-up, which is used a lot in catwalk and editorial. It recently had a high profile collaboration with Lady Gaga’s newly released beauty line Haus Laboratories.
Frances said: “Working with Face Lace was a dream commission. I was thrilled to be able to work with this innovative make-up brand creating the illustrations for instructions for its amazing new A/W 19 collection.”Frances combines being a practicing artist and successful freelance illustrator alongside her teaching work at The Northern School of Art.
Her recent projects have included illustrating the Fashion Exercise Book (2014) and Pick Up a Pen (2018) for Pavilion, a leading publisher specialising in illustrated books for the UK and international markets.
She has also produced live portraits for events across the country and exhibited and sold work at the Baltic Self Publishing Artists’ Market. Frances also exhibited at the Northern Festival of Illustration in 2019 and delivered a talk at the event on Contracts with the Illustration Industry
All staff at The Northern School of Art are industry specialists, many of whom, like Frances, continue to work across the creative sector.
