Jamie Tyerman wins APHE Photo Meet Bursary 2018
We are delighted that once again one of our students has been successful in obtaining a APHE Photo Meet bursary, from the Association for Photographers in Higher Education. This time the honour goes to Jamie Tyerman, a level six student who focus on editorial and fashion photography.
Current Students from APHE member courses had the chance to receive one of three bursaries to gain portfolio reviews at the next Photo Meet at Space Studios, EAST LONDON. He was one of only three UK degree and masters students in the country selected through the competitive process to win the bursary and attend the high level Portfolio Review event in London. Those offering their expertise, have in the past included, picture editor from Times Magazine, FT Magazine and Guardian Weekend Magazine, as well as Esquire Magazine, Wallpaper Magazine and Vogue UK.
The Association for Photography in Higher Education (APHE) exists to support and to develop the study of photography within Higher Education. It is committed to excellence in practice, theory and research and provides a critical forum within which to discuss and debate a broad range of matters relevant to contemporary photographic culture and educational practice, and to reflect upon what is viewed as best practice within these debates.
The Association acts as the representative body for those associated with photography in higher education and formulates policy and strategy with regard to representing the views of the HE sector to other appropriate organisations and government bodies. There are currently forty institutions who offer higher education courses who are eligible to put forward students for this bursary.
Jamie is experienced in conducting product and editorial shoots within a professional e-commerce studio and fashion house. He works as lead photographer on location and studio shoots with a team of stylists and assistants and works within a creative team on major campaign shoots.
