Queer Gardens
Queer Gardens is a community driven project exploring the deep connection between the LGBTQ+ community and the natural world, it aims to encourage “individuals to claim space in gardens and celebrate their identities. By highlighting how diverse and fluid expressions of gender and sexuality have been mirrored by the natural world for centuries, the project invites the community to connect, plant and cultivate their own gardens that reflect their personal journeys, identities, and express their pride as we collectively celebrate the natural history of identity and embrace natures inclusive beauty.”
The project is presented “through a series of zines, each is focused on a specific flower that has deep historical ties to the queer community whether that has been through literature, poetry, activism, or properties of the flower. Exploring how each flower can be planted for both beginners and experienced gardeners, this project aims to collectively curate gardens which express pride in LGBTQ+ identities.”
