Sarah ReedAngie
My project, Angie, focusses on a lady with an inspiration to help those who are sometimes unable to help themselves. With the country in the crisis it is in, as well as the cost of living affecting most people’s day to day living, she has made it her purpose in life to support and help the public in any way she can. Angie Commerford is a co-owner of a charity organisation called Hebburn Helps. This charity has a food bank and crisis team which is funded purely by donations. One of the many amazing things about this lady is that she spends all of her time organising charity events to raise money, not only for her organisation but also for mental health awareness. She arranges charity walks to raise awareness for Life Brigade and a walk she started which she named The Walk of Hope, which supports people who have lost friends and loved ones through suicide.

Rachel MarshLook Deeper
Look Deeper is a challenge to the viewer to question what they assume of people. This series invites you into the unusual world of the model, and the objects that are precious to them. For some their chosen item generates an income, for others it provides an escape, for all they are a passion. Each image has been patiently crafted using a process called wet plate collodion, a capricious and beautiful technique that has changed little in the past 172 years. Each plate is unique, the flaws are as much part of the image as the subject itself, drawing a visual parallel to the complex and distinctive personality of the model, everyone has hidden depths. Each plate in its uniqueness is imprinted with my own essence, my aura, each flaw and mark on the image is a direct result of something I have done, turning each plate into a quasi-self-portrait.

Rachael DraperDon't Forget Me
Don't You Forget About Me is a project that explores the beauty and significance of dresses that were once treasured. Through a series of images and videos, the project highlights and encourages viewers to reimagine the way we approach second-hand and vintage items. By capturing the dresses in motion, the project adds a dynamic element to the imagery and emphasises the psychological reasons why we hold on to fashion – the memories they evoke. The use of commercial photography practices imbues the dresses with an element of fantasy, making them come to life and capturing the viewer's imagination. My work invites the viewer to reflect on their own forgotten fashion items and to consider the impact of fashion on the environment. It is a timely reminder that fashion can be both beautiful and sustainable and that the photographer has a vital role to play in shaping the way we think about and approach fashion.

Meg HarrisBeauty in Dark Places
Throughout my work, I have been fascinated with the process of documenting sombre situations and drawing out beauty from the macabre. I strive to portray goodness in dark places – crime scenes haunted by the memory of their victims; grace in places of melancholy – relics of conflict and memorials to death. This exhibition showcases two projects where I photographed locations which have a story. They encompass national monuments of war and simple, personal tributes to loved ones; the soaring physical remains of bygone eras and sites made notorious by serial killers. The photography aims to ensure the events or people associated with these places are not forgotten whilst simultaneously juxtaposing the darkness of the stories with the beauty of the landscapes. It is my dedication to the victims and a memorial to history.

Matthew FletcherEmission
My photographic series revolves around the environment, specifically looking at industry with an architectural focus and the emissions that they release into the atmosphere; causing ever more damage in a time where we need to consider every aspect of the planet's fragile ecosystem to preserve the future of every living organism. Through my research for this project, I found that there have been improvements in the generation of electrical power to move away from coal (the heaviest polluter in this industry). There is still, however, a long way to go in terms of focusing on renewable and green energy if we, as a race, are going to secure a cleaner life for future generations of people, animals and plant life.

Joshua GallantreeRemnants of War
All my life I have found myself interested in Second World War history and, since studying at The Northern School of Art, I have developed my skills as a Documentary Photographer. My project 'Remnants of War' focuses on wartime structures still found amongst the coastline of Hartlepool and the neighbouring village of Greatham. Wartime structures scatter the coastline of the UK as a first line of defence against any invaders and visiting these sites steps you back in time, making you realise the genuine fear the people had of invasion. My aim of the project is to educate and raise awareness of these forgotten structures still living in our landscape today. I am very passionate about history and being able to combine both photography and my interest in history has been a very enjoyable experience and something I wish to continue.

Jack PurvisNoir
As a fashion photographer, my goal is to inspire those who view my work. Whether it be through the vibrant colours of a high-fashion editorial or the moody black and white tones of a portrait, I hope to capture the beauty and spirit of everyone I photograph. For this project I wanted to produce a series of heavily stylised, murky fashion imagery. I used medium format film, as it allowed me to create images that are both classic and modern, with a unique depth and richness that cannot be achieved through digital photography. In an industry that is constantly evolving, I believe that my approach to photography offers a timeless quality that will never go out of style. I am excited to continue pushing the boundaries of my craft, and to capture the beauty of fashion through photography.

Elise LumleyPatchwork
Patchwork is an exploration of colour and playfulness, aimed at challenging the idea that photography always has to be serious and sombre. The work employs a variety of playful elements like stickers, bright colours, and tape, resulting in a collection of photographs that resemble a scrapbook or diary. I wanted to evoke in the viewer a sense of childlike wonder and whimsy. One of the key techniques I used to create this effect is the intentional degradation of image quality. By printing and scanning the photographs, I instilled them with a sense of imperfection and nostalgia. The message I want to convey with my artwork is one of artistic exploration, encouraging viewers to embrace their innate creativity and to boldly venture beyond the confines of traditional artistic norms.

Clement HewisonThis Green and Pleasant Land
This Green and Pleasant Land examines the places affected by climate change that are absent from the conversation. The photographs aim to begin a discourse about the unseen places that have an outsized impact on our lives. The subversive nature of these photographs rejects state narratives on the successes of their mitigation and challenges those who greenwash, as well as showcasing the failures of policy to act. If you've read this far, nothing said previously is true. These images in fact show places that don't exist, designed as backdrops for a fictional war set far in the future, which is in itself only an arena for a first person shooter video game, where reaction time and hand-eye coordination, rather than nerve or bravery, win the engagement. Question everything you see now.

Antonia DunnPOISE Magazine
As a commercial photographer, my interest is fashion photography and this project focuses on fashion magazine covers. I chose to shoot on location as I really enjoy natural lighting, nature and bright colours. I named my magazine POISE and chose the theme of powerful women as my area of focus. The definition of poise is confidence, composure and passion. I based my photographs on the meaning of poise, it became my inspiration. I believe my images create powerful emotions, by photographing female models which are confident and unique. Feminism is a very important political ideology to me. I based my dissertation on this subject also, linking in with this project; my dissertation title being 'How does Fashion Photography Contribute to Changes in Gender Identity?'. Researching into gender identity allowed me to have a better understanding of feminism captured by photographs, and how powerful women truly are.
