PHOTOGRAPHIC PRACTICE WITH MOVING IMAGE

Amanda LayVillage People
Based in North Yorkshire, interested in family, portraiture, narrative and emotional connections. My desire is to visualise and tell stories of the people that are around me. To enjoy the stories we are told, the ones we can imagine as well as the memories they evoke in us. Village People is a series of photographs that I hope speak to people and remind us of our own families. Learning how to dance, owning a pony, painting your wendy house, all these things and more remind me of me and mine. The people in these images are my community, my friends, my FAMILY!

Chloe SykesThe Awareness of How Few Days are Memorable

Deborah Diana ShiltonThrough the Reflection
I have always been drawn to capturing the aspects of my own life that I find interesting rather than focusing on other people. It has become a journey within itself of my own developments both as a person and as an artist. Past projects of mine have explored different aspects of myself through the medium of self-portraiture, starting with revisiting my childhood to viewing my life as it is now. 'Through the Reflection’ is a project which shows my physical journey between Hartlepool and London, merged with self-portraiture and seeing myself change as I make these journeys. I photographed the things which I found beautiful out of my view from the window, while also capturing myself in the process from reflections. Sequencing them together to show a journey of change. Not every image is perfect, but that’s just how life passes us by.

Jade PatersonAfter Midnight
The art that I create is a direct reflection of the curiosity that I have for life, more specifically life at night. Combining my love for observational imagery with my fascination and adoration that I have for the night brings me a sense of fulfilment. In the midst of darkness my eyes naturally seek bursts of colour. This attraction to colour is what often has me drawn to small peculiarities that I probably wouldn’t have noticed during the day. I often find a piece of myself within the scenes that I come across.

Katie MilburnHuman Behaviour Around Tourist Attractions
Each of my photography projects always have underlying links; The human presence. People watching has become a large influence on my work and the subjects I like to photograph. Humans have the biggest impact on this planet and our everyday life, this is something I like to express in an abstract way within my photos. My most recent project has been about human behaviour around tourist attractions and how people photograph on holiday. Tourist photography has lost all value that it once had, travel has become a reason for instant photography for social media and not for culture and appreciation.
