Alice EvansThe Washing Lines
Alice Evans produces illustrated promotional materials and merchandise for the purpose of advertising brands and events. Alice discovered the art of gig posters when tasked to create a mock poster for an event of her choosing in her second year and has been creating poster art ever since. Although poster art is her main focus, she also believes that other illustrated products are equally essential when advertising an event or brand, so she also likes to create stickers, prints and T-shirts.

Julied MustardEko in the Forest
Julied’s goal for her final year was to develop a narrative and a character for a children’s book that reflected a part of her heritage. Representation of her heritage isn’t something that she got to experience growing up in England, so she wanted to create a basis for a fun and heartfelt story that is rooted in her culture. It’s a story that is playful and adventurous that all kids can get lost in, and perhaps provide some kids a chance to see themselves in a story where they may not otherwise.

Tammy NaeemChinese Culture
Tammy’s work mostly focuses on female figures, although these are the themes she currently focuses on, she likes to experiment with different art mediums and styles, helping her branch out in more than one creative way. Tammy’s exhibition pieces focus on women in five different cultures that are commonly appropriated. She decided to focus on such a topic as this is something (as a person of colour) that she has witnessed a lot throughout her life and now that this topic is getting the attention that is deserves she wanted to contribute in educating people who may not know about such things or simply don’t understand. Alongside her final pieces she created a zine which talks about the topic in more detail. With each culture there are two drawings and two explanations as to how the cultures are appropriated and why it is wrong to do so. As a person of colour, she wishes to continue to educate others through her illustrations while at the same time allowing people to take the time to enjoy them. She hopes this will allow even more representation in the future.

Emily PyleCat Collage
Throughout my creative education that began properly at The Northern School of Art in 2015, I struggled to find my voice as a creative. After trying and experimenting with different media, styles and textures it wasn’t until the end of my 2nd year of university in 2019 that I really found a style I was good at and enjoyed. My style is quite cute and simplistic and centres mostly around nature and animals. I have always been a passionate animal lover and love the outdoors so applying what I love into my work is something I really enjoy. When writing and illustrating my book ‘Iris’ I really found a love for children’s book illustrating and writing. I feel this is something I want to pursue in my creative career. I hope that as well as freelance work I could have my book published. Once in university I discovered I also had another passion for clay sculpting. This led me down the path of making my own badges and sculptures that went along with my illustrations. I combine my love for clay work and illustration together within my final show making my characters come to life in my models.

Ethan Ord
Ethan creates animations and short stop-motion films. Ethan was influenced by Aardman Animations with their use of 3D clay creative figures. Ethan finds the use of digital software very interesting and a useful tool in animation creation. Ethan likes to create super-heroes and mythology characters with Nordic and Greek bases. Ethan is adept in digital software to create animated films but prefers to use analogue 3D clay figures. This allows Ethan the freedom to work with a range of materials to create the figures; and enables them to be malleable to create facial expressions and movement of limbs and extremities.
