BA (Hons) Illustration for Commercial Application

Abbey CuthbertAbbey is a versatile digital illustrator her main focus is within editorial and advertising. Abbeys specialities and main interests are within portraiture and surrealism. In her project The Chaos Collection she focusses on honing her skills, while branching out to new ideas and stylistic choices.

Bag-ChipsBag-Chips is queer illustrator and character designer with an unapologetically fun and energetic style. A predominately digital artist, their designs are bold, and their work focused on diversity. For their final major project ‘Sunkissed’, they have concepted a hypothetical LGBTQ+ monster dating simulator set in the fictional North East coastal resort Fangleton-on-Sea.

Bailey EdwardsBailey is an illustrator who creates striking pieces of art using both traditional and digital methods. Bailey specialises in comic book illustration, using panelling compositions and storylines to amplify his semi-realistic style. In his project, Drifter Bailey wanted to show his understanding and skills of the realities of modern comic book production.

Becky RandelBecky is an illustrator who creates designs digitally her work has a papercut style giving it a realistic quality. Becky aspires to be a professional children’s book illustrator. For this her final major project, Little Red Riding Hood (Becky’s version) Becky wrote and illustrated her first full-length book.

Beth CarrBethany Carr is an artist specialising in commercial illustration work, using digital mediums. During her second year at the Northern School of Art she had discovered the world of illustration for use within editorial and advertising. This became the basis for her final major project, which explored the use of illustration for advertising within the cosmetics industry.

Caitlyn PittsCaitlin Pitts is a narrative-based illustrator working with traditional and digital media to produce her signature style. Character design and production spurs her creativity in sequential narrative concepts such comic books and graphic novels. Caitlin intends to further develop her practice through the MA Design Practice program, collaborating with creatives from a variety of disciplines whilst establish herself as a narrative-based illustrator.

Callum PickthallCallum Pickthall is a versatile illustrator and aspiring tattoo artist. Specialising in a broad range of tattoo styles ranging from Linework, American Traditional, Stick & Poke, Stipple and Geometric tattoo styles. Using his range of skills, Callum intends to show his ability to problem solve and flexibility within the tattooing industry by developing a diverse portfolio of work.

Conrad SpoorConrad is an illustrator who prides himself on building an immersive world for his audience, with The Art of Vampire Society being no exception. The premise for this project being to immerse the audience of a vampire film club further into the movies by surrounding them with gothic imagery.

Coz TaylorCozmos is a very openly talented character artist who can work with both physical and digital medias. He is currently focused on and specialised in religious blasphemy and pushing the boundaries of what can and can’t be done. Present through out his portfolio he constantly seems to be infatuated with the ‘taboo’ and has an interest with more spiritually connected themes.

Ellie BartlettSpecialising in children’s book illustration, Ellie uses traditional and digital methods to create pieces, using a variety of brushes to achieve a traditional feel within her work. Her project ‘There’s something in the garden’ tells the story of a girl who faces her fear of the unknown.

Fink RobsonFink Fox Robson is an illustrator working in children’s illustration and publishing. A digital artist, his down to earth style is soft, shaped based and textural. Fink’s final major project involved him illustrating his children’s
book Kit and Dad, and features gender non-conforming characters and a Northern setting inspired by his upbringing.

Hannah ClarkHannah is a primarily digital illustrator, basing her work within the editorial sector. Hannah specialises in creating work for editorial, primarily for magazines and articles. In her project ‘Beauty Within Insecurities’ Hannah shows how your insecurities do not define you and you should see the beauty within them, allowing you to feel confident about yourself.

Hannah CollinsHannah is a versatile illustrator, working with both analogue and digital methods. Hannah specialises in experimental image making and is a proficient character designer. In her project ‘From punk to skate’ as a self-designed brief, Hannah considers how the punk culture and skate scene correlate to one another highlighting the importance of subcultures within the creative sector.
Helen RawsonHelen an illustrator who primarily works in digital mediums. Graduating with a BA (hons) Illustration for Commercial Application and with a passion for character design and storytelling, Helen specialises in character illustration and in her project ‘Wish Upon’ she focuses mostly on creating a fun story with cute appealing characters for children to read.

Jade AgarJade Agar is an illustrator, who works with both digital and traditional medias, recently transitioning more to digital methods. At the moment she doesn’t specialise in one thing working in multiple topics such as editorial, books and tattoos. In her project “Japanese Inspired Illustrations” she wanted to show the rich culture in Japan and Japanese tattoos.

Jas ProudfootJasmin is an illustrator working primarily in digital medium, specialising in illustration apps and with an interest in a broad range of commercial outputs. For her final major project, she has focused on editorial and music industry illustration, with the intention of replicating freelance and illustration agency work.

Jasmine JeffersonJasmine Jefferson is a universal illustrator, who works mostly in a digital format, but also sometimes uses traditional formatting methods. Jasmine will be graduating with a BA (hons) Illustration for Commercial Application qualification, along with a portfolio and skills retrained from this experience and the knowledge learnt throughout this course.

Katie BullasKatie Bullas is an Illustrator specialising in Young Adult and Middle Grade publishing, who enjoys Illustrating a wide range of genres, most enjoying working within the Fantasy genre. Her Final Major Project details illustrations for four different book titles, all within the Young Adult and Fantasy genre. Using mostly digital techniques to illustrate, allowing her to draw a wide variety of interesting things, including characters, creatures and scenes.

Lilly MarshallLily Rose Marshall is an Illustrator who works digitally and analogue, she specialises in editorial and publishing with the purpose of portraying a message. In her project she aimed to raise awareness for female mental health, to dispel misconceptions and further educate readers through a variety of mediums; being a zine, posters and a book cover.

Megan UrwinMegan is an illustrator and designer who works with both traditional and digital methods, specialising in Advertising, cover design and narrative. Her project ‘Project name here’ shows how narrative can be used in advertising and considers how book covers can truly connect people instantly to the book and captivate people to the book.

Niamh DonnellyNiamh Aíne Donnelly is an Illustrator who primarily uses digitalmethods to create their artwork. Their work uses cute and softvisuals to approach darker themes such as body image, mythology and Cultural preservation. For their final major project The Hoe-tic Edda they created a Zine that
depicts the Norse Gods and Goddesses in a pinup style.

Phillipa PlumptonPhillipa Plumpton is a queer, autistic illustrator whose primary specialism is in the creation of products and advertising. In her project the ‘Floral Fantasies Collection,’ Phillipa develops a range of products and assets that would be used for her personal branding that she will continue establishing across online platforms after graduation.

Quinn Stewart-HolmesQuinn Stewart-Holmes is comic book illustrator who works mainly in traditional style illustration but also in digital illustration and element depending on what he is working and will be graduating with a BA (Hons). After leaving the Northern School of Art Quinn hopes to continue his path as a comic book illustrator by continuing the comic book series he has created and to look further and to work on other comic book projects.

Robin Brady-StottRobin Brady-Stott is a character designer and writer with an interest in book illustration. Their work is heavily influenced by their passion for the conservation of less charismatic and conventionally appealing species. The focus of their FMP is concept work for Solare, a graphic novel about extra terrestrial field biology.
