My FMP is inspired by happy memories captured in photographs. The main focal point in my designs are florals, animals, and beautiful architecture from various places around the world, that myself or family members have captured. My concept entitled 'Escape Back to Nature' depicts all things natural that have significance from my childhood. Taking a sensitive approach to my work, my bespoke Tulip Wood art peice was attentively hand painted and collaged with real bird seed; inspired by my grandparents wildlife garden. As well as my bespoke wood, my interior collection includes a range of highly figurative designs from wallpapers, to lampshades and one off art pieces.

Chloe Amelia BoydTextured samples in nature
My work this year has been heavily inspired by nature and the textures within it. I have spent the year developing my natural dyeing to create a bank of hand dyed fabrics. These fabrics have then been manipulated to create a tactile art piece. I wanted to focus my work on nature because of its ability to improve a person’s mental health and wellbeing, my final outcome will allow me to bring nature in and help create a calming environment.

‘Opposites Attract’ is a concept I decided to base my work upon to explore traditional and contemporary printing methods used within textiles and surface design which include screen printing, and digital design. The main insperation for my imagery came from both land and sea focusing on tropical climates. Seen throughout my work, I have juxtaposed colour palettes to create a collection of interior furnishing fabrics.

My work is based on collections of objects that are around us in our every day lives. My work is designed for interiors on more of a large scale, including rugs or big cushions. My designs are intended to brighten up the whole room and be a focal point within an interior space. I have designed my placements so they give off a 'torn paper collage' effect when you look at them. They are purposely designed with some uneven edges to add depth and diversity to the designs.

My work this year has been focused on looking at historical ruins and intact buildings (as well as the objects found in these sites) that have a sentimental value to me. I wanted to create a series of hand rendered and digital designs that would evoke an emotive response and I did this by using drawings of damaged/intact objects that had relevance to the concept, a series of ethereal polaroids of the historical sites I visited and photographs of family members.
