UAL 3D Design (Interior, Architecture and Production) student Charlie Campbell receives The Library Award 2025!
UAL 3D Design (Interior, Architecture and Production) diploma student Charlie Campbell was the recipient of this years Library Award 2025! The Library Award was initiated in 2022 by a former governor whom generously donated a cash award of £75 to recognise a college-level student who had made excellent use of the Library’s print and electronic information resources in support of their course work.
This year the Award went to Charlie, staff said “from his first day at the school Charlie made himself known to us in the library and has been quite a fixture ever since in the most positive way. He always asked for help if he needed it, to the point now, two years on he knows the library so well. Charlie is the student who has the highest book loan count, but not only that he has consistently used the library for his study throughout his time here, he has also been there to help his fellow students in the library on many occasions. It has been such a pleasure to know Charlie and watch how much his confidence has grown so much over the last two years. It was lovely the other week when Charlie told us that he sees the library as his safe space.”
Charlie joined us from Clervaux Garden School and became familiar with the school through Saturday Club, “as I had previously participated within the Saturday club, I was already passionate about architecture, so when learning The Northern School of Art had a course that was specific to my interest, I was excited to enrol. I thoroughly enjoyed my time within the course, I found it highly informative and interesting, and has further encouraged me to peruse my interest of architecture as a career.”
Charlie was nominated for the prestigious Principals Award awarded to the student who has made the most progress in their creative and academic journey over their two years of study and won the Library Award, reflecting on this he said “I was really pleased to be nominated for the principals’ award and when hearing my name for the second time I was really proud to win the library award and I have very much enjoyed my time in the library. The staff within the library have been really helpful and it is a useful resource for the college, I feel it should be utilised by more students.”
For Charlies FMP he “studied the LA wildfires, and I had developed a design that withstands further wildfires. using a variety of materials and techniques to improve the overall design to ensure it would not affect the home as seen by the devastation seen earlier this year in Los Angeles.”
