COURSE DETAILS
The Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Acting for Stage & Screen is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the performing arts.
They provide an opportunity for those who have an interest in the performing arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating, demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study. On this highly practical course you will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of different acting techniques for both stage and screen. You will look at contemporary and classical texts as well as devise your own performance pieces supported by experienced lecturers.
The first year is looking at the core skills of actor training; voice, physicality and characterisation which you can then apply to a variety of projects. All of this practical exploration will be supported by developing knowledge of the theoretical underpinning of different practitioners such as Stanislavski, Brecht and Lecoq. The second year will allow you the opportunity to push the skills gained on first year. You will be working on classical theatre and also focussing on audition preparation to ensure you are prepared for your next steps whether into industry or higher education. This skills based approach will be supplemented by a number of performance opportunities
The Northern School of Art’s Middlesbrough campus has been given another ‘Outstanding’ rating by Ofsted. Following an intensive four-day inspection by six inspectors the School’s further education provision has retained the top rating it has held since 2009.
