Degree Show 2024 gets underway!
Crowds flocked to the opening of the showcase celebrating work by The Northern School of Art’s final year students at this year’s Degree Show.
The packed preview event at the School’s university-level campus in Hartlepool marked the first day of the show which is now open to the public until Friday 7 June 2024.
Students were joined by families, friends and members of the public at the extensive exhibition of creative talent by graduating students on the School’s visual arts and stage and screen degree courses.
The Degree Show is part of a series of events organised by The Northern School of Art which shine a spotlight on future names to look out for from the roll call of final year students.
Audiences packed out ARC Stockton Arts Centre to see recent performances of Cupid by the School’s graduating BA (Hons) Acting for Stage & Screen students and The Northern Film Festival celebrating work by final year BA (Hons) Film, TV & Theatre Production students was a sell-out success.
Displays at the Degree Show event at No 1 Church Street in Hartlepool include displays of fine art, film sets, photography, film trailers, a documentary highlighting some of the standout moments and performances of third year acting students, textiles, costumes, animation, illustration, models and graphics by this year’s graduating students at The Northern School of Art.
Ahead of the doors opening for the preview event evening, a series of awards recognising academic and creative excellence across the School’s programmes were presented to students by The Northern School of Art’s Principal, Dr Martin Raby, and Governor, Kieron Goldsborough.
Dr Raby said: “It’s one of the most pleasant jobs of the year presenting these awards and celebrating the outstanding work of our graduates.
“We’d encourage everyone to come along and the show and see the fantastic range of work by our final year students.”
The Northern School of Art Degree Show highlights outstanding work through a range of student awards and present work from all graduating final year students across all BA (Hons) programmes including: BA (Hons) Acting for Stage & Screen, BA (Hons) Costume Interpretation with Design, BA (Hons) Digital Design & Advertising, BA (Hons) Film, TV & Theatre Production, BA (Hons) Fine Art, BA (Hons) Graphic Design, BA (Hon) Illustration for Commercial Application, BA (Hons) Model Making & Visual Effects, BA (Hons) Photography, BA (Hons) Production Design for Stage & Screen and BA (Hons) Textiles & Surface Design.
The Northern School of Art Degree Show takes place at 1 Church Street, Hartlepool, TS24 7DR from 30 May – 7 June 2024. The event is open to the public from Monday 3 June -Thursday 6 June,10.00-19.00 and on Friday 31 May and 6 June and Saturday 1 June, 10.00- 18.00. Entrance is free.
