There have been some outstanding achievements amongst this year’s stunning A-Level results from students at the Middlesbrough campus. 

We caught up with Nox Sketch who achieved an A* grade in their A-Level Art and Design, and A grades in their History of Art and Photography A-Levels.  

Nox is continuing with their creative education and has enrolled onto The Northern School of Art’s Middlesbrough campus Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, a course designed for post A-Level (or equivalent) 18-year-old students, to provide a unique transition year between 6th form/college and creative degrees at university. 

Reacting to their results Nox said: “I feel really happy – although my family seem even more ecstatic than I am!

“When I was thinking about taking a creative route, my grandparents’ friends questioned whether it would be a good idea to do a visual arts course because I have a visual impairment. But I thought, ‘I’m going to do this anyway and prove I can.’ In fact, I think it’s been a benefit, as it’s given me an alternative perspective in my artwork.”

Nox added: “I’m coming back to The Northern School of Art in Middlesbrough to study the Foundation Diploma before heading off to university. I’m thinking about studying graphic design, but I’m not completely sure yet – so the foundation year will give me time to think through my options more fully.”

Reflecting on their time as an A-Level student at the School’s Middlesbrough campus Nox said: “I’ve loved my time at the School. My A-level project work was linked to my own interests, and I loved that I could pursue my passions in music and graphic design.

“Studying here has been huge fun – our class wasn’t too big, so it felt close-knit and very supportive. We’ve been texting each other all morning to share our results, and the class has done really well. The School has a fantastic community and is very friendly – everyone is always willing to help you.”
