Success for film and production design students success at 2021 Kodak Nahemi Student Commercial Awards
The Northern School of Art’s BA (Hons) Film, Television & Theatre Production and BA (Hons) in Production Design for Stage and Screen degree students took home an award for Best Production Design and an Honourable mention at the 2021 Kodak Nahemi Student Commercial Awards.
Five films were submitted to the prestigious annual awards organised by NAHEMI, the National Association for Higher Education in the Moving Image, which asked students from across the UK to create commercials for well known brands, all shot on one roll of 16mm film stock.
The awards were then presented in an online ceremony earlier this month by renowned commercial director Dougal Wilson.

The Kung Fu commercial for McVitie’s, which was filmed in the Apothecary set created by BA (Hons) in Production Design for Stage and Screen degree students, received a joint award for Best Production Design and the cinematography was praised by the judges. The crew were Producer: Anna Bant / Director: Samuel Burt / Camera: Connor Shepherd / Editor: Oscar Fitchett / Sound: Leonard Villamor.
The Dreams (Sweet Dreams) commercial, below, was given an Honourable mention by the judges. The crew were – Producer: Faith Murphy Brown / Director: Jack Colley / Camera: Robbie Tweedale / Editor: Ethan Strachan / Sound: Samuel Burt.
The crew for the Dreams (Friends) commercial below were – Director: Anna Bant / Producer: Robert Southwood / Camera: Adam Mclean / Editor: Faith Murphy-Brown / Sound: Charlie Berry.
The crew for the McVities (Dog) commercial, below, were: Producer: Thalia Martin / Director: Steven Gibbs / Camera: Nicole Conning / Editor: Hannah Richardson / Sound: Aoife Mckeown.
