Costume Graduate’s work on display at Gainsborough Hall
Costume graduate Eileesh Lightowler showcased her Catherine Parr costume at our Made By degree show back in June. Now the showstopping costume is displayed at Gainsborough Old Hall in Lincolnshire to portray the wears of King Henry VIII‘s 6th wife.
“Blackwork, I’ve done a tonne of it, but none more on one project than I did for my Final Major uni project. As a staple part of Tudor costuming, I was always going to have to do a lot of hand sewing but I have to admit, doing hours and hours worth of tiny hand stitches to create this patterns wrecked my hands!” Eileesh said.
Gainsborough Old Hall in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire is part of the English Heritage and is over five hundred years old and one of the best preserved medieval manor houses in England. In August 1541 it is reputed that King Henry VIII, visited Gainsborough Old Hall whilst journeying from Lincoln to York.
