Since graduating from The Northern School of Art with a BA (Hons) Graphic Design, Mia Angioy has developed a distinctive creative practice combining graphic design, collage, image-making and art direction. Her work has taken her from freelance projects and brand collaborations to creating visuals for some of the UK’s biggest cultural and sporting moments.
Mia’s approach is rooted in experimentation, particularly through collage and the combination of analogue and digital techniques. She describes herself as both a graphic designer and image maker, using photography, found imagery, colour, shape and typography to create distinctive visual work. Her practice has also continued to evolve through animation and moving image.
One of Mia’s major professional achievements has been creating artwork and stage visuals for Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour. Working with animation and live-action studio Curtis Marrs, she art directed and illustrated visuals for performances of Stand by Me and Some Might Say, which were brought to life through animation and displayed during the band’s stadium shows.
For the project, Mia created two distinct sets of imagery, combining a contemporary collage aesthetic with references to Oasis’ cultural legacy. Seeing her work projected behind one of Britain’s most iconic bands was a significant milestone in her career.
Mia has also worked across major sporting and fashion projects. She created collage assets for the England Lionesses’ 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad reveal, collaborating with artist and animator Alice Isaac. Her work formed part of the animated campaign announcing the squad.
Her commercial collaborations have included work connected to Converse and Liverpool FC, as well as projects with brands such as Converse and publications including Noema Magazine. She has also created artwork for The Northern School of Art, including a bespoke cover for the University’s prospectus.
Mia’s work has also benefited from her willingness to share personal and experimental projects. Her Oasis commission came about after director Chris Marrs discovered her work through Instagram, following a personal animated collage project she had created with animator Amy Hancock. For Mia, the experience demonstrated how developing work for herself can lead to unexpected professional opportunities.
Alongside her BA, Mia went on to study MA Design Practice at The Northern School of Art, where she continued to explore the relationship between analogue and digital processes. Her postgraduate work included collage, music-inspired posters and other mixed-media projects, further developing the experimental approach that has become central to her professional practice.
Mia is represented by Brilliant Artists, and her career demonstrates how the skills developed through Graphic Design can extend into image-making, collage, art direction, animation, branding and large-scale visual campaigns. From working with major sporting and fashion brands to creating visuals for Oasis’ reunion tour, she has developed a career that combines graphic design with an increasingly multidisciplinary approach to visual communication.
