The Northern School of Art Student Spotlight: Alexandra Serafin Johnson
We have some amazing students here at The Northern School of Art! We caught up with Alexandra Serafin Johnson studying Art and Design who has taken her skills learnt at college and applied them to her part time role at the very cool Vintageous Rags on Baker’s Street in Middlesbrough
“I’d definitely recommend CCAD, because there are courses to suit everyone looking for a creative job, no matter what they want to do, and the teachers all have experience in the industries they teach, so they’re really helpful and they know what they’re doing too.”

Congratulations on your fantastic job at Vintageous Rags, how did that opportunity come about?
I started working for the shop in April last year. I saw a post on their Instagram page advertising a seamstress job and I just applied for it, I didn’t think I’d hear anything back but I’m so glad I applied now because I love working there
How has your time at The Northern School of Art been so far?
Going to The Northern School of Art really helped me with my career, because I didn’t do very well in my GCSE’s and I didn’t really know what I wanted to do in the future. I knew wanted to work in art or fashion, because they were the only things I really enjoyed, and the Art and Design course I went on really helped me to decide what career I wanted and what I needed to do to achieve this.
That’s great! Since starting your studies with us, what’s been the best thing?
My favourite things about The Northern School of Art are probably the new people I’ve met who’ve become really close friends, and being creative all the time and having experiences which will help me in the future and hopefully in my career
So exciting! What’s your plans so far for after college?
I’d like to go on a fashion course at university, either a general one or a specialist one like Body Contour at the The Northern School of Art HE Campus.
What’s the goal for 5 years time?
In 5 years time I’d love to have a career in the fashion industry, especially one in lingerie design or working for a designer like Ralph and Russo.
Would you recommend The Northern School of Art to anyone wanting to venture into the creative industry?
I’d definitely recommend CCAD, because there are courses to suit everyone looking for a creative job, no matter what they want to do, and the teachers all have experience in the industries they teach, so they’re really helpful and they know what they’re doing too.
