Acclaimed graphic designer Dan Wilson, who has worked with household name brands O2, LADBible and Newman’s Own and a range of independent musicians and bands, delivered a bespoke industry talk for students on The Northern School of Art’s UAL Extended Diploma in Graphic Design.
The online workshop was organised by the digital education arm of London-based Independent Label Market (ILM) in collaboration with the School’s Interactive Design Cluster Leader Tom Burton.
A former student at The Northern School of Art, Dan Wilson’s client base ranges from corporate brands to independent record labels, charities and fashion brands and he was recently profiled on renowned fashion brand Celine‘s Instagram feed (view it HERE).
He worked closely with the team at LADBible to produce visual assets for their incredibly successful ‘UOKM8’ mental health campaign along with producing regular editorial illustrations for the LADBible website.
Dan has designed digital and print assets for musical artists including Kate Nash, LIFE, Drowners and Phantasy Records and art directed ‘The Ordinary Boys’ visual identity creating single covers, tour posters, merchandise and social media assets.
He also works closely with ILM and their brand partners BBC 6Music to create the artwork for their annual vinyl record releases.
For the past decade ILM has organsised markets to bring together the founders of over 400 of the world’s greatest independent record labels on both sides of the Atlantic to sell their fresh vinyl produce directly to the public. The workshop for The Northern School of Art students is part of a new Arts Council backed initiative to bring the artists associated with ILM directly to young people in education.
